We scored 25 operators across 62,000 traveler reviews — and chose only 8.
Monteverde and Manuel Antonio face the same bar.
You get one shot at this trip
Maybe two, if you’re lucky and the kids stay willing. And from two thousand miles away, every Costa Rica itinerary looks identical — the same volcano photo, the same list of five regions, the same promise that it’ll be unforgettable. What you can’t see from your kitchen table is which of it is actually worth the drive, and which of it is filler someone sold you because it filled a day.
So we did the unglamorous thing. We read 62,000 traveler reviews, scored 25 operators, and kept 8. Then we took what the data actually said — not what sells easily — and built one route around it: four nights at the volcano where everything sits half an hour apart, two in a cloud forest that exists almost nowhere else, and two where the rainforest walks onto a Pacific beach. Three places. Two drives. Nothing in it because it filled a gap.
Below is the whole thing, including the parts most companies leave for the morning of.
Hand-vetted partners
In Arenal we scored 25 operators across 62,000 reviews and kept 8. Every partner we add anywhere else has to clear the same bar — or it doesn’t go in your trip.
One all-in price
Stays, guides, transfers and activities in a single price. No hidden costs, no surprises on arrival.
One route, not a catalog
We don’t sell all of Costa Rica. We’ve spent our time perfecting one route — Arenal, Monteverde, Manuel Antonio — until there’s nothing left to get wrong.
Twenty minutes, face to face
Message us on WhatsApp and you’ll get an instant reply. It sets up twenty minutes with Marco on video — he walks your route and tells you what won’t fit, before you’ve paid for anything. That’s where the trip gets planned, not over text.

Experiences
The Costa Rica moments worth flying for
Eight vetted partners, one volcano. These are the experiences inside every Destitrip itinerary.

Wildlife & Sloths
The #1 reason travelers remember Arenal — sloths, birds and frogs, with a guide who spots what you’d walk right past.

Arenal Volcano
The volcano up close, hanging bridges and the Lake Tabacón — the views that put La Fortuna on the map.

Coffee & Chocolate Farm
Roast, grind and taste real Costa Rican cacao on a family farm. The hands-on experience the big operators skip.

Hot Springs
Naturally heated rivers at the foot of the volcano — the reset every Arenal nights are built around.

Canopy & Zip-line
Fly over the Monteverde cloud forest on a 1560 meter cable– or a gentle double cable course for families in Arenal.

Rafting & Canyoning
Whitewater and waterfall rappels with safety-audited operators. Adrenaline, done right.

Monteverde Cloud Forest
Primary cloud forest with a naturalist. The forest appears and disappears around you while you stand still.

Manuel Antonio Park
Sloths and capuchins where the rainforest walks onto the sand – worth double with a guide, and half without.

Catamaran & Sunset
The Pacific on the last evening, from the water. We put it at the end of the route on purpose.

The route
Four nights where everything is 30 minutes away. Then two drives worth taking.
Arenal is the rare corner of Costa Rica where a volcano, waterfalls, hot springs, sloths and a chocolate farm all sit within a short drive of each other. That’s where your trip is anchored, and where you’ll spend half of it. Then we take you to the only two places that earn the drive: Monteverde, where you walk inside a cloud forest, and Manuel Antonio, where the rainforest runs straight into the Pacific. We’re not going to pretend those drives don’t exist. One is about three and a half hours — crossing Lake Arenal by boat with the volcano behind you, which is a morning you’ll photograph, not endure. The other is roughly four hours down to the coast. We tell you that now, in writing, because finding it out at 7 a.m. on day five is exactly how other people’s trips get ruined.

One honest note on timing. What we’re describing — Marco on a video call with you, one coordinator who knows your whole trip and your name, someone reachable every day you’re there — only works at small numbers. Past a certain point we’d become the kind of company we built this one to avoid. Add five homes at the foot of the volcano that hold eighteen people, and a December-to-April calendar that goes to whoever asks first, and that’s the whole limit. No countdown. Just a ceiling we keep on purpose.
